Ica

The region of Ica is located on the edge of the Pacific Ocean in southern Peru. The main town in this region is the town of the same name. The climate in this area is dry and it rains very rarely. In the desert are emerging mountains, oases and enigmatic lines on the ground; these are the famous Nasca lines.
These lines, or geoglyphs, would have been made by the Nasca people, between 400 and 650 AD. J-C and have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994.

The Nasca lines are subject to many theories including that of the astronomical calendar, the ritual site or the weaving area or even the origin of extraterrestrials. Not far away, there is also Cahuachi and its pyramid and very old aqueducts.

By the sea, the landscapes are magnificent and the ocean has formed impressive rock formations. In Paracas, a nature reserve preserves the ubiquitous and varied fauna and flora. This area is usually visited by boat in order to make the most of the natural spectacle.
