Puno

Located at an altitude of nearly 4,000m, the Puno region borders the highest navigable lake in the world, the Titicaca. Cradle of the pre-Inca civilizations Pucará and Tiahuanaco, traces of life have been found there dating back more than 10,000 years BC! Legend also has it that Manco Capac, mythical founder of the Inca Empire and son of the sun, was born from the waters of the Titicaca in Puno.
Its capital, of the same name, is a small port city, whose main activity is tourism to the islands of Titicaca. The traditional route consists of boarding a boat to visit three islands in two days: Uros, Amantani, Taquile, at a run.
The very touristy nature of these places has led Casas del Perú to direct its tourist routes to more authentic places such as the peninsulas of Capachica and Chucuito.
