Get off the beaten track! In the countryside of Matalaque, an area less popular with tourists, you will live authentic experiences and have the opportunity to live the Peruvian way. You will also pass by must-see sites in Peru such as Machu Picchu, while meeting the inhabitants of each site and discovering their way of life thanks to the planned overnight stays with the locals. This stay will make you discover a contrasting, surprising and colorful Peru!

Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome at Lima airport by Javier your private driver. He will escort you to your guesthouse in the modern district of Miraflores.

Day 2

9:00 am: Cultural visit to the historic center of the capital of Peru, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will take a tour of the main monuments of the Peruvian capital such as the Plaza de Armas, the colonial houses, the Peruvian Government Palace, the church and convent of San Francisco. Lunch will be held in a carefully chosen restaurant.

In the afternoon, flight to Arequipa (2300m), the first city of its altitude stage.

José-Luis, your private driver, will meet you at the airport to take you to your bed and breakfast Casa de Dina, in a residential area of ​​the city, where you will be welcomed by Dina herself.

Dinner at home.

Day 3

This day will be an opportunity for you to acclimatize to the altitude.

9:00 a.m.: You will begin exploring the city, with your guide Percy. You will visit several places in the city steeped in colonial architecture, the Yanahuara Church, the Santa Catalina Monastery, and the Church of the Company of Jesus. Lunch will be free (on your own). In the afternoon you will have time to stroll through the streets and discover the city for yourself. At the time agreed with your driver, return to Casa de Dina, where you will have dinner with Dina.

Day 4

06:00: Departure by private car to Matalaque, a small town in the heart of the Moquegua volcanic region (6 hours by private car). During the trip you will pass through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca reserve where you will enjoy alpaca and llama cattle. You will also see the most active volcano in southern Peru: San Pedro de Ubinas.

12:00: Lunch in the town of Ubinas at the foot of the volcano of the same name. You will have a moment to discover the town.

14:00: Arrival in Matalaque. You will be welcomed by Carmen and Julio, who will introduce you to the town.

Dinner and overnight in their Casa El Naranjito room.

Day 5

This day is dedicated to discovering the way of life of the inhabitants of Matalaque. After your breakfast, you will accompany your host, Julio, in his daily activities, such as watering the fields, milking the cows, feeding the chickens and guinea pigs.

Lunch and dinner with your hosts.

Day 6

This day you will continue to enjoy the countryside through a fishing trip.

7:30 am: departure to the river with Julio to fish for trout for lunch (one-hour walk). You will learn to fish with a net thanks to Julio's advice. Then you will prepare the fish so you can cook them on the fire.

1:00 pm: tasting of trout accompanied by potatoes cooked on the grill.

4:00 pm: return to the town of Matalaque.

Day 7

07:00: Return to Arequipa by private vehicle. Lunch during the trip in a restaurant.

13:00: Arrival in Arequipa where you will take a shower at Casa de Dina.

At the end of the afternoon you will go to the airport by private transport to fly to the city of Cusco. Willy, your driver, will be waiting to take you to your hotel in the center of the city of Cusco.

Dinner at your expense.

Day 8

08:30 a.m.: Accompanied by Feliciano, your guide, you will begin the cultural visit to the city of Cusco, considered “the navel of the world” by the Incas. You will have the opportunity to visit the Koricancha, or Temple of the Sun, a monastery built on an Inca temple, as well as the city cathedral and the four essential ruins around the city: Quenk'o, Pukapukara, Tambomachay and Sacsayhuaman.

12:00 p.m.: End of the city tour, lunch is on your own. You will have the afternoon free to walk through the streets and discover for yourself the secrets of this magnificent Inca city.

Dinner on your own.

Day 9

7:00 a.m.:  Departure with your guide Féliciano and Willy your driver to discover the Sacred Valley. You will have the pleasure of discovering different sites such as Chinchero, the village of weavers, the impressive Maras salt mines managed by the families of the community as well as the ancient Inca agricultural experimentation center of Moray.

12:00 p.m.:  Willy will take you to your guest room in the village of Calca. Lunch and dinner with your host Yoni.

Overnight with locals at Casa Milagro.

Day 10

08:00:  Departure from Urubamba by private bus to Santa Teresa. You will pass through various magnificent landscapes including a pass at 4800 meters, the Verónica glacier, the Málaga pass, the jungle, then you will arrive at the province of Convención, a very productive area of ​​fruits and coffee. You will descend into the forest passing through Huyro, Maranura and arriving around 12:00 p.m. at Santa María.

13:00 hours:  Arrival and installation at Casa de Enrique in the town of Lucmabamba. Enrique is the coffee producer with whom you will have unforgettable coffee experiences. Lunch with Enrique and his wife.

Free afternoon to enjoy this coffee area.

18:00 hours:  Dinner with the family

Day 11

06:00: Breakfast

07:00: Day dedicated to local agricultural work. You will start with an immersion in the cultivation of granadillas (typical fruit of Peru), you will be able to go into the fields to harvest the fruits, taste them and finally see the process of the fruit from harvesting to transformation into juice or cocktail.

10:00 a.m.: You will see the processes of harvesting and honey industry. You will have the opportunity to taste Mead, a drink with 5% alcohol made from honey.

12:00 p.m.: Lunch with the cooperative

15:00 p.m.: You will go to one of Enrique's plots that belongs to the "Flor de Café" association to also visit the coffee plantations and see the entire process of harvesting, selection, peeling, fermentation, drying, roasting. You will have the opportunity to buy coffee and related products.

18:00 p.m.: Dinner with the family.

Day 12

06:30 a.m.: start of the hike to the ruins of Llactapata.

09:00: you will arrive at the place called the Inca's balcony. You will appreciate the magnificent landscape that is offered to you.

11:00 a.m.: you will arrive at the end of this hike at the place known as Hidroeléctrica. There lunch will be waiting for you before you set off again.

15:00 hours: arrival at the town of Aguas Calientes.

Free afternoon to visit and rest from your morning hike. Possibility of bathing in hot springs (not included in the price).

Day 13

You will be able to make your final purchases of handicrafts and other souvenirs from Peru.

Javier will pick you up at Casa de Dina et Klaius according to the schedule of your return flight to France (four hours before your flight departs, Javier will be waiting for you).
