Set out to discover the coffee route that will take you to the gates of Machu Picchu.
Before entering the emblematic Inca city, you will be taught all the secrets of coffee on a farm. Then you will walk to the base of Machu Picchu. This path will allow you to enjoy a rich and varied biodiversity as well as impressive landscapes. In addition, this stay will make you spend unforgettable moments thanks to the families who will welcome you into their home with open arms. In short, this trip combines all the elements for a trip full of surprises!

Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome at Lima airport by Javier your private driver. He will accompany you to your guesthouse in the Surcos district.

Day 2

09:00 h: Accompanied by Javier, Liliane will pick you up at Dina and Klaus' home. The visit will take place in the historic centre of the colonial capital of Peru, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. During a three-hour guided tour you will admire the Place des Armes, the Peruvian Government Palace, the different colonial houses, the surprising Chinatown but you will also taste delicious fruit from the large market where you will discover a multitude of unknown varieties.

In the afternoon, flight to Arequipa (2300m), the first city of your altitude stage. Private transfer to your bed and breakfast Casa de Dina, in a residential area of ​​the city, where you will be welcomed by Dina herself.

Day 3

9:00 a.m.: You will begin to explore the city, with your guide Percy and José-Luis your private driver. You will go to the Carmen Alto viewpoint to admire a panoramic view of the volcanoes. Then you will visit the Yanahuara church, built with this volcanic stone in baroque style. To finish the visit, you will walk through the streets of the city center with the Monastery of Santa Catalina and the Church of the Company of Jesus. After a three-hour visit, José-Luis and Percy will leave you in the city center so you can have lunch. Free afternoon, at the time agreed with José Luis you will return to your guest room.

Day 4

09:00: Start of the tour of the Arequipa countryside with Percy and José Luis. You will go to the alpaca textile factory where you will discover the process of wool from the alpaca to the garment. Then you will continue the discovery to the Sachaca viewpoint, where you will contemplate the impressive panoramic view. Then we will visit the House of the founder of the city Manuel Garci De Carbajal, an old mill and finally the magnificent terraces of Paucarpata.

13:00: End of the visit and lunch on your own.

Free afternoon to discover the city for yourself. At the agreed time, José-Luis will take you home.

18:00: Dinner at home

Day 5

You will have the morning free.

Lunch on your own.

In the early afternoon you will take the flight from Arequipa to Cusco. José-Luis will pick you up to take you to the airport.

Willy, your private driver, will be waiting to accompany you to your guesthouse in the center of Cusco.

Dinner with Yeni and Ronald your hosts.

Day 6

09:00: Start of the Solidarity visit to the “Hijos de los Apus” association, which works for the education of children from the poor highlands of Cusco. Feliciano, your host, is the founder of this organization and will be happy to accompany you. Eager to show you Peru as he lives it, you will take public transport to reach the top of the hill. Upon arriving at Alto Qosco, you will share unforgettable moments with the children of the association, such as football matches, painting, drawing, dancing, singing, while enjoying the impressive view you will have over the city of Cusco.

12:00 pm: you will share lunch with the children (the price paid for this activity, including the food, will be donated entirely to this solidarity project for the purchase of educational material).

14:00 pm: you will return to the city center by public transport.

15:30: Once you reach the city center, always accompanied by Feliciano, you will begin the cultural tour of the city of Cusco, considered the “navel of the world” by the Incas with the Koricancha, a monastery built on an Inca temple. You will also visit the four ruins of Sacayhuaman, Quenko, Pukapukara and Tambomachay.

6:30 p.m.: End of the visit and return to your room at Casa Mayhuac Wasin to collect your belongings. Your driver, Willy, will take you to Urubamba (an hour by car, in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas) to Casa Yuyanapaq Wasi where Délia and René will welcome you with a dinner prepared especially for you.

Day 7

In the morning you will have time to discover the town of Urubamba for yourself, visit the market and its incredible amount of fruits and vegetables.

14:00 hours: Departure from the house by public transport from Urubamba to Urco (Délia's childhood village).

15:00 hours: Arrival at the Urco site. You will take a 20-minute walk. You will talk with Délia about her town, her childhood, the different stories and myths that exist in her region. On the way you will visit the Andenes (terraces) and several archaeological sites including the Inti Huatana temple. You will discover the different stories and legends surrounding this well-preserved site.

While admiring the impressive view, you will enjoy a local drink offered by the family.

16:30 hours: Visit to the Inkari history museum about the Inca culture of Cusco and other regions of Peru which features life-sized statues illustrating customs and traditions.

18:00: return home and prepare the campfire.

19:00 to 22:00: family activity around the campfire, sharing experiences, stories, songs in Spanish and Quechua, or music with a sound system. Typical meal around the campfire with the family (music and typical dance services are available upon request, prior reservation – additional cost)

Day 8

08:00: Departure from Urubamba in private transport to head to Santa Teresa. You will pass through various magnificent landscapes including a pass at 4800 meters, the Verónica glacier, the Málaga pass, the jungle, then you will reach the province of Convención, a very productive area of ​​fruits and coffee. You will descend into the forest passing through Huyro, Maranura and arriving at Santa María.

13:00 hours: Arrival and installation at Casa de Enrique in the town of Lucmabamba. Enrique is the coffee producer with whom you will have unforgettable coffee experiences. Lunch with Enrique and his wife.

Free afternoon to enjoy this coffee area.

18:00 hours: dinner with the family.

Day 9

Day dedicated to discovering the work of local agriculture

07:00: You will start with an immersion in the cultivation of granadillas (typical fruit of Peru). You will go to the fields and harvest the fruits, taste them and finally see the process of the fruit from harvesting to transformation into juice or fruit cocktail. You will also see the harvesting process and the honey industry. You will have the opportunity to taste Mead, a 5% alcohol drink made from honey.

12:00: Lunch with people from the cooperative

15:00: You will go to one of Enrique's plots (part of the "Flor de Café" association) to also visit the coffee plantations and see the entire harvesting process (selection, peeling, fermentation, drying, roasting). You will have the opportunity to buy coffee and related products.

18:00: Dinner with the family.

Day 10

06:30 a.m.: start of the hike to the ruins of Llactapata. You will pass by the place called the Inca's balcony. Throughout the morning you will appreciate different magnificent landscapes available to you.

11:00 a.m.: you will arrive at the end of this hike to a place called “Central Hidroeléctrica”. There lunch will be waiting for you before you start the trail again.

15:00 hours: arrival at the town of Aguas Calientes.

Free afternoon to visit and rest from your morning hike. Possibility of bathing in hot springs (not included in the price).

Day 11

05:00: Feliciano will pick you up from your hotel to accompany you to the public bus that will take you to the entrance gate of Machu Picchu (twenty-minute trip). The departure will be early in the morning to avoid queues, arrive when the site opens and see the sunrise.

6:00 a.m.: Entrance to the citadel of Machu Picchu and visit with Feliciano, a true enthusiast of the Inca culture. Get ready to discover the stories and legends of this mystical place. Located at 2,400 meters above sea level on the top of a hill overlooking the sacred valley, you will be captivated by the almost unreal spectacle of this ancient Inca city that unites the Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountains. You will have free time to walk around this energetic site.

11:30 a.m.: Return by bus to Aguas Calientes after having fully enjoyed Machu Picchu. Free lunch before collecting your belongings at the hotel.

14:30 hrs: Return by train from Aguas Calientes station to Ollantaytambo station.

16:00 hrs: Arrival in Ollantaytambo where Willy will be waiting to accompany you in private transportation to Cusco (two hours trip).

You will have one last night in Cusco to see the nightlife of this magnificent capital of the Inca Empire that is full of architectural and cultural wonders.

Day 12

Free morning to enjoy the last moments in this magnificent city.

2:00 p.m.: Willy will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the Cusco airport.

16:00 hours: you will take the plane to return to the capital.

5:30 p.m.: Javier will meet you at the Lima airport to take you to your host Annie, in the Surcos district.

Day 13

You will be able to make your final purchases of handicrafts and other souvenirs from Peru.

Javier will pick you up at Casa de Dina and Klaus depending on the time of your flight back to France (four hours before your flight departs, Javier will be waiting for you).
